TOUCH THE HEM

The story of the woman with the issue of blood(mark 5:25-34)…

This is a very popular story of the Bible and one that depicts so much faith in God…

This Woman bled for 4,380 days(12 years)of which an average lady whose menstrual cycle is between 3-5 days is expected to menstruate for 720 days in a period of twelve years….I can’t but imagine her level of discomfort…Scripturally blood signifies LIFE ,in literal terms her life was flowing away from her for 12 years 😩😢…
A lot of physicians had treated her but the scripture said they took all her money and left her far worse…..That is what you get when seek after peace from the wrong source…They won’t leave you any better, you could become an object of group discussion if possible….you’ve been involved in acts you don’t feel proud of, don’t just seek for help from anyone,Go to God,they could worsen your situation or create a Sermon out of it….Hebrews 4:15 says we don’t have a priest who is out of touch with our reality,he’s been through weakness and testing,he has experienced it all…Touching the Hem is the ability to fight back or recover from setbacks!!!…There are many hems available out here in the world so it is expedient that you know and touch the right Hem so you won’t get more complicated like the Woman with the issue of blood…

Verse 27;She heard about Jesus,she slipped in from behind and touched his robe(hem)How she was able to pull through in between the large crowd still baffles me,How was she able to do this?She had been bleeding for twelve years so obviously a lot of people would have known her but still managed to Join the crowd,she must have heard a lot of people avoiding her and gossiping about her but she pulled through….On your way to touching the Hem,stay focused, deafen your ears to tantrums, ignore the crowd and gossips,crawl if you have to,jump,walk,jog,run if you have to,the goal is to touch the Hem with our gaze fixed on him(we press towards the higher price)…In the midst of all,she had set her priorities right,she saw her healing already….The day you see your future you’ll stop finding fault in everything that happens to you…

Verse28;she was thinking to herself,”if I can put a finger on his robe(hem),I can get well”…(What a great level of faith)Faith is calling into existence things ahead of time(Priscilla Shirer)…Hebrews 11:1 says faith is the evidence of things not seen…let me tell you the implication of this verse;I may not be married now but I trust God to help raise a godly home…I may be in school at the moment but I’ll get a job soon…I may be single now but I refuse to Join the “men are scum” association because I know God will bring in my way a good man..Can you start professing the mind of God over your life!!!!

With a bent back and a hand holding her stomach she didn’t lose faith,with so much pain in her waist region she didn’t lose faith,her pad was soaked in blood and it was already dripping but she didn’t lose faith,With so much pain she forged ahead because she saw her Healing…On your way to touching the Hem,your faith is a necessity!!!

In verse 29 her blood ceased the moment she touched the Hem now Jesus asked in the next verse “who touched my hem”?She had touched the Hem not the body yet Jesus felt it….Many people would have touched the Hem of Jesus even the back of his cloth but he felt nothing until this woman did…it is one thing to touch,it’s another thing to touch with faith…Jesus asked who touched me because he knew it wasn’t just the touch of a hand but the tug of a heart that has been constantly fed with faith…

Three things happened in verse 33 after she touched the Hem; 1.she hid behind the crowd 2.jesus called out for her 3.He announced her publicly

SHE HID BEHIND THE CROWD:

Her blood had ceased,she had stopped dripping,she then stepped back without uttering a statement….it is very sensitive that you know when to keep quiet when God has not asked you to…She hiding behind the crowd can be likened to staying in your secret place until God calls out for you…Until God calls out for you,hide!Until God calls out for you,stay in your secret place!If God has not called you to Lagos,stay in Abeokuta…

JESUS CALLED OUT FOR HER:

He said who touched me?He knew someone had been travailing in their secret place,she is ripe to step out,it’s time for her to manifest…The world is waiting for her,she has a lot of territories to conquer, enough of her hiding behind the crowd…it is time,where is she?Stay in your secret place,keep pushing,press harder,he will call out for you soon…

3.HE ANNOUNCED HER PUBLICLY:

The Jesus kinda announcement is an open one!!!…The Woman may have remained healed without being identified publicly but Jesus felt it was important that her act of faith be recognized publicly…He brought her out to relieve her of the public shame she had face for twelve years…Some manifestations can’t be hidden…

In verse 34 Jesus said” daughter you took a risk of faith and now you’re healed and whole,live well,live blessed!
If you’re not ready to take a risk of faith, you cannot touch the Hem!…
For the times we bled,we will push! For the period we were down,we will push!…For the period we failed,we will push!…

We can’t journey this far just to lose sight of the Hem…
